A Willing Burden

The burden of our idealism

Made further heavier

By cynical allies.

Chained already by restrictions galore,

Abandoned by society for

Our moral quirks.

Tempted we are to give it up

For convenient bonhomie.

Bound in compulsory choice

We throw away our principles.

When you see another nutcase

Braver than you,

Not giving up theirs,

With brightened eyes you pick again

That cast away load.

The world’s populous,

And the crazy are aplenty too!
